Biographical Information[edit]

Champ Osteen was nothing if not consistent. As a rookie in 1903, he hit .200, then as a second-year man hit .196. After a three-year hiatus spent in the minors, he repeated the .196 average in his third year, and in his fourth year hit .200 again.

He came to the Washington Senators after being drafted from the Davenport River Rats.

He is the first of three major leaguers named Osteen, with the other two being pitchers and contemporaries - Claude Osteen and Darrell Osteen.
