Biographical Information[edit]

After playing baseball and football at the University of North Carolina, pitcher Chal Port spent time in the Milwaukee Braves organization. He was 1-0 with the 1954 Eau Claire Braves. In 1956, he went 5-4 with a 4.50 ERA for Eau Claire. Following his playing days, he was a longtime baseball coach at The Citadel from 1965 to 1991. In 27 seasons at the helm of the team, he won 641 games and led the school to 7 conference titles and an appearance in the 1990 College World Series (through 2011, it remains the school's only CWS appearance).
