Biographical Information[edit]
Catcher Cesar Devarez joined the Baltimore Orioles organization in 1988 as an undrafted free agent. He gradually ascended through the Orioles' minor league system and made his major league debut on June 3, 1995. Davarez played six games for the Orioles in 1995 and another 10 games in 1996. After 1996 he continued playing at the minor league level with the Chicago Cubs (1997), Tampa Bay Devil Rays (1998), before finishing with Baltimore in 1999. Devarez did not play anywhere in 2000, but moved to the Mexican League in 2001 with the Cafeteros de Córdoba. After their season ended, Davarez finished 2001 with the Bridgeport Bluefish of the independent Atlantic League. He stayed with the Bluefish in 2002-2003 and possibly 2004.
Devarez returned to the Orioles in 2005 as a field coach with the Aberdeen IronBirds. He remained in this role through the 2011 season. In 2012 he became the Position Players Rehabilitation Coordinator for Baltimore. He may have returned to this role in 2013, but this could not be confirmed.
