Celso Nakano played in the Pan American Games four times. He was the All-Star CF in the 1994 World Junior Championship after hitting .367 with 9 RBI in 10 games to help Brazil finish 4th ahead of traditional powers like Cuba, Australia, Canada, Mexico and Panama.
Nakano played for Brazil in the 1995 Pan American Games at age 19, the 1999 Pan American Games and 2003 Pan American Games. As a part-time DH, he was 1 for 8 with a double in the 2006 Americas qualifier for the 2008 Olympics.
Nakano was 0 for 5 in the 2007 Pan American Games; he was their only outfielder without US minor league experience as he played alongside Anderson Gomes, Paulo Orlando and Tiago Magalhães.
