Biographical Information[edit]
Pitcher Cecil Davis played in the minor leagues on-and-off from 1951 to 1956. He had his best seasons with the Plainview Ponies of the West Texas-New Mexico League. In 1953, he was 13-10 with 11 complete games in 29 games (19 starts) and in 1954, he went 19-13 with 15 complete games and a 5.18 ERA in 47 games (25 starts); in 240 innings, he had 204 strikeouts. Overall, he was 39-35 in 115 games.
He was also adept with the bat, hitting .305 in 351 career at-bats. He spent a couple dozen games in the outfield over the course of his career.
In the 1953 Rule V Draft, he was taken by the Cedar Rapids Indians from the Jackson Senators in the Class-B round. He never played for Cedar Rapids (or Jackson, for that matter).
