Biographical Information[edit]

Cayetano García was a center fielder for the Nicaraguan national team in the 1982 Central American and Caribbean Games. He hit .344 in the 1983 Pan American Games, homering against Venezuela and going 2 for 4 with 5 RBI in a win over Team USA. Nicaragua won the Silver Medal. He also played in the 1983 Intercontinental Cup, 1984 Amateur World Series and 1984 Olympics. In the 1984 Amateur World Series, he hit .255/.314/.468 with 12 runs in 13 games; he had double as many runs as anyone else on his second (Roberto Espino was second with 6). He had three assists from center, while fielding .938. He helped Nicaragua win Gold in the 1986 Central American Games. He only hit .200 in the 1987 Pan American Games. He later played and coached in Guatemala.
