Biographical Information[edit]
Catfish Smith was a college coach.
Smith played football and basketball in addition to baseball in college. He then coached football at University of Georgia, University of South Carolina and the University of Mississippi and coached baseball at Georgia (1934-1937) and South Carolina (1938-1939, 1946-1947), going 70-93 in baseball. He was the college coach for Alf Anderson and Johnny Rucker. He later served in the US Army Air Force, retiring in 1963 and was inducted in the College Football Hall of Fame.
