Category talk:Misc Leagues & Teams
Taking a stab at a category for the semipro and misc.--Pti 09:46, 28 Sep 2005 (EDT)
Would it be better to call this "Independent Leagues"? Or does that name imply minor league? --Pti 09:51, 28 Sep 2005 (EDT)
It implies a certain breed of minor league from the past decade-plus. I don't think many people refer to the 1900 American League, 1940 Mexican League or the 1954 Longhorn League as independent leagues. - Mischa, Sep. 28, 6:50 PM
Well, the leagues category has evolved in the 5+ months since to include those kinds of leagues. Should we thus rename this the Misc Teams category? - --Mischa 20:54, 16 Mar 2006 (EST)
Why are the Canadian Baseball League teams listed here? Isn't this more of a "semi-pro/amateur" teams category. --MichaelEng 21:29, 16 Mar 2006 (EST)
In the Baseball Almanac, the Canadian League was listed under International Ball, not the independent minors, but was that just because of geography, or differetiating this league? --Just me 21:32, 16 Mar 2006 (EST)
The Almanac makes it clear that the CBL did not consider itself an indie league. It has listed other circuits with a strong canadian basis as independent leagues. - --Mischa 21:35, 16 Mar 2006 (EST)
Ok, that makes sense. How about a subcategory of teams [[:Category:International Teams]] and then [[:Category:National Teams]] as a subcategory of that; such as [[:Category:Canadian Teams]], [[:Category:Italian Teams]], [[:Category:Dutch Teams]], etc. --MichaelEng 21:50, 16 Mar 2006 (EST)
18 year later - Might be time to at least ponder splitting this category again. Misc Leagues vs. Misc Teams? Its only 63 pages at this point, so its not pressing, but at least throwing it out there. Jeff (talk) 16:33, 1 April 2024 (UTC)
