Biographical Information

Carrenza Howard was a Negro League pitcher of the 1940s who was a one-time All-Star.

After college, Howard signed with the New York Cubans. He was 0-1 in 1941, 1-2 in 1943 and 4-4 in 1944. He pitched for the East in the 1944 East-West Game. The 23-year-old relieved Terris McDuffie in the 4th with a 2-2 tie. He tossed a shutout inning but unraveled in the 5th. After retiring Artie Wilson, he gave up singles to Ducky Davenport and Buddy Armour. Alec Radcliffe hit a sacrifice fly, then Barney Serrell singled and Archie Ware doubled. Barney Morris relieved and gave up a homer to Ted Radcliffe to make it 7-2. Howard took the loss and was charged with 4 runs in 1 2/3 IP.

Carranza was 0-1 in 1945 and saw minimal action in 1946. He was with the Indianapolis Clowns in 1947 and ended his career with the New York Black Yankees.
