Biographical Information[edit]

Carlos Rodríguez pitched for Nicaragua in the 2023 World Baseball Classic. He started against Puerto Rico on March 11th and limited his powerful opponents to one run in four innings, and the game was tied until Puerto Rico exploded for five runs in the 5th.

He was born in Nicaragua but moved to the United States at a young age, attending high school in the Miami, FL area and junior college in southern Florida. He was drafted by the Milwaukee Brewers in the 6th round of the 2021 amateur draft and began his professional career in 2022. He went 6-1, 3.01 in 26 games that year between the Carolina Mudcats and Wisconsin Timber Rattlers and was named the Brewers' Minor League Pitcher of the Year. He received that distinction again in 2023 after going 9-6, 2.88 in 26 games, all but one of them for the Biloxi Shuckers of the AA Southern League, where he was both a postseason All-Star and the circuit's Pitcher of the Year. He logged 123 2/3 innings for Biloxi, allowing just 82 hits while striking out 152 opponents. His other game was his AAA debut with the Nashville Sounds on [[September 20]th in which he gave up 3 runs in 4 2/3 innings. As had been the case after the 2022 season, he was named a Brewers organizational All-Star to top off a year in which he gathered honors by the bucketful. Ben Hendrickson had been the only pitcher before him to twice be named the organization's minor league Pitcher of the Year.

In 2024, he started the season with Nashville and was 4-5, 5.17 in 12 games when he was called up to make his big league de but with the Brewers. That took place on June 11th in a starting assignment against the Toronto Blue Jays. After a perfect 1st inning, he gave up a run in the 2nd and another one in the 4th, allowing 7 runs and 1 walk in 3 2/3 innings. His teammates failed to score any runs that day, and he ended up with a 3-0 loss.
