Biographical Information[edit]
After the 2007 season, Carlos Pulido was named pitching coach of the AZL Rangers.
On June 12, 1994, pitching for the Minnesota Twins, he faced off against Wilson Alvarez of the Chicago White Sox; it was the first time in major league history that the starting pitchers from both teams were from Venezuela. He earned the last of his three career victories that day, part of a 3-7 record during the season. He played in Japan for the Orix Blue Wave of the Pacific League in 2000 and 2001.
In his native Venezuela, he was mainly known as Juan Carlos Pulido. His nickname there was "El Domador de Leones" - the Lion Tamer. He holds the Venezuelan League career record for wins by a lefthanded pitcher. His best seasons were with the Navegantes del Magallanes, and his success over their main rivals, the Leones del Caracas, earned him his nickname. He also pitched for the Tigres de Aragua, Cardenales de Lara and Tiburones de La Guaira.
