Biographical Information[edit]
Carlos Cárdenas did not live to see his 21st birthday but accomplished a lot. Diagnosed with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy at age 9, he stopped his schooling in ninth grade and focused on writing about baseball. He wrote a book on Venezuelans in the majors and edited or helped publish other books. He co-authored a column in El Mundo and reported on the 1991 Caribbean Series. He was a member of the Society for American Baseball Research. He helped push for a Venezuelan Hall of Fame; one was founded nine years after his death. He was inducted into the Hall in 2016.
