Carl Henry Lindner, Jr.

Biographical Information[edit]

Carl Lindner was owner of the Cincinnati Reds until he sold the club to a group led by his son in-law, Robert Castellini, in 2005. He was one of the richest men in the world at the time of his death, but was a self-made man, having his fortune when he managed his family's small dairy business to become the "United Dairy farmers" chain of convenience stores. From this base, he formed a holding company, American Financial Group, which is active in insurance and investments.
