Biographical Information

Carl East, sometimes called Carlton East, was a successful pitcher and outfielder at the minor league level who came briefly to the majors in 1915 as a pitcher and in 1924 as an outfielder.

One source says he was at one point the leading hitter and right fielder for Beloit's Fairbanks Fairies, a factory team. Also, in 1916 for the Lincoln Tigers, he led the Western League with 24 wins as a pitcher.

With the Minneapolis Millers in 1923, he led the American Association with 31 home runs. He was also briefly with the Millers in 1928.

East was a pitcher from 1913-19, and then began to play significant amounts of time in the outfield in 1920-21 while he also pitched some. Beginning in 1922 he was an outfielder and played at least until 1930. After his playing career ended, he managed and was president of the Georgia-Alabama League in 1946, the year it was re-started.
