Biographical Information[edit]

Carl Boles did quite well in his cup of coffee in the majors in 1962 with the San Francisco Giants. In 19 games, he hit .375. The Giants won the pennant, but Boles did not appear in the 1962 World Series. Boles was trying to find a spot in the outfield on a team that had Willie Mays, Harvey Kuenn, and Felipe Alou as regular outfielders, with Willie McCovey, Matty Alou, and Manny Mota looking to break in. It was a very tough time to be looking for a spot in the Giant outfield.

Carl played for the Springfield Giants in 1960 and 1961. He later played in Japan and hit 117 home runs in the Land of the Rising Sun.
