Biographical Information[edit]

Cannon Lester played in the independent leagues then became a college coach.

He set Southern Arkansas University records for homers (41), games (220), hits (290), runs (247), doubles (75), RBI (219), total bases (498) and hit-by-pitch (68) as well as single-season records in runs (89) and total bases (167). In 2009, he made the American Baseball Coaches Association All-American team at second base, joining Yan Gomes in the infield. Signed by the San Francisco Giants, he was injured and released. He moved on to the Southern Illinois Miners, batting .286/.370/.527 in 2011, .262/.329/.369 in 2012 and .283/.368/.432 in '13. He hit .500 with two homers in the 2012 finals to win MVP. In 2013, he led the Frontier League with nine triples.

Lester was assistant coach at Southern Arkansas from 2011-2013, head coach of Columbia Christian Academy (which one?) in 2014-2015, assistant coach at Hot Springs Lakeside High School in 2016-2017 and head coach of El Dorado (AR) High School from 2018-2021. He then became the first head coach of South Arkansas Community College, taking them to the 2023 NJCAA Division II Baseball World Series in their first season of play.
