Biographical Information[edit]
Calvin Estrada has played for the Salvadoran national team.
He hit .267 as a high school junior and .312 as a senior. [1] He batted .302 as a junior college freshman. [2] He then played for El Salvador in the 2017 Bolivarian Games, hitting .278/.364/.278 with one run and two RBI in five games. Only Francisco Flores had a better average or more hits for El Salvador and only Jose Medina had more RBI. He fielded .947. [3] In the 2017 Central American Games, he was 3 for 22 with 3 walks, a run, four RBI and a sac fly, while making two errors. In the Bronze Medal Game, he was retired by Alejandro Amézquita of Guatemala before the game ended early due to rain; both teams took Bronze Medals. [4]
He hit .434 with 13 homers as a sophomore. [5] Transferring to Long Beach State, he hit .245/.295/.298 in 2019. In '20, he batted .290/.362/.387 in 15 games before the season was cut short by the COVID-19 pandemic. He improved to .298/.355/.548 with 10 homers and 36 RBI in 42 games in 2021, given an extra year of eligibility like others who had seasons cut short by the pandemic. He was second-team All-Big West. [6] He turned pro with the Ogden Raptors
(.283/.361/.509 in 21 G) and Idaho Falls Chukars (15 for 33, BB, 2 2B, 2 HR, 10 R, 12 RBI in 7 G). In 2022, his batting line was .428/.510/.726 with 23 doubles, 13 homers, 62 runs, 66 RBI and 37 walks in 55 games for Idaho Falls. He won the Pioneer League batting (.021 ahead of Riley Jepson), was second in OBP (.014 behind Jepson) and led in slugging (.022 ahead of MVP Jayson Newman). [7]
