"I am not an expert on baseball, though I enjoy the game." - Calvin Coolidge in 1924, indicating that if the 1924 Senators won the pennant, he would attend the Series
President Calvin Coolidge was not much of a baseball fan, but his wife Grace was. However, he attended three games of the 1924 World Series at Griffith Stadium. Grace was described as a "particularly rabid" fan of the Washington Senators in The Glory of Their Times and also showed a good deal of support for the Boston Red Sox. This earned her the nickname "First Lady of Baseball".
