Biographical Information[edit]

Pitcher Caden Dana was selected by the Los Angeles Angels in the 11th round of the 2022 amateur draft, from a high school in New Jersey. He made his professional debut that same year with ACL Angels, making 3 starts with an ERA of 1.35 in 6 2/3 innings, and one with the Inland Empire 66ers of the California League in which he allowed 5 runs in 1 2/3 innings.

He pitched more extensively in 2023, starting off at Inland Empire and then earning a promotion to the Tri-City Dust Devils of the Northwest League after three starts. Overall, he went 3-5, 3.56, making 14 starts and logging 68 1/3 innings. He allowed 51 hits and walked 30 batters while striking out 89 opponents. His overpowering stuff earned him the rank of #2 prospect in the Angels organization after the season, and in 2024, he started the year in AA with the Rocket City Trash Pandas of the Southern League. As one of the youngest pitchers at that level, he was named a member of the American League squad at the 2024 Futures Game. He went 9-7, 2.52 in 23 starts for the Pandas, striking out 147 batters in 135 2/3 innings.

He was called up to Los Angeles when rosters expanded by two players on September 1, 2024 and made his major league debut that day, starting against the Seattle Mariners. He had a very good game, allowing just 2 runs on 2 hits including a solo homer by Luke Raley, both walking and striking out four, and received credit for the Angels' 3-2 win.

His two older brothers, Cullen Dana and Casey Dana, have also played in the minor leagues. Casey, an infielder, was Caden's teammate with Tri-City in 2023.
