Biographical Information[edit]
Louis Roberts "Buzz" Stephen was originally drafted by the Houston Astros in the 25th round of the 1965 amateur draft. Opting not to sign, he was drafted by the Minnesota Twins in the secondary phase of the January 1966 amateur draft, and then again in the secondary phase of that year's June draft by the Twins, when he finally signed. He played briefly for the Twins in the final weeks of the 1968 season, then was selected by the Seattle Pilots in the 1969 expansion draft. However, he never returned to the majors after that.
In his one year in the majors, Stephen's salary was $5,400 and he wore number 42. After baseball, he resided in his birth city of Porterville, California, where he died in 2024 shortly before turning 80.
