Personal Recollection[edit]

Art "Buck" Faust was a catcher for the 1953 Oshkosh Giants of the Class D Wisconsin State League. He had been to college ( possibly Temple Univ. in Pennsylvania ) and had likely played on the class D Ft. Walton Beach, Florida team before he came to Oshkosh. Buck was a fairly large husky blond player, who was a reasonably consistent defensive catcher for Class D baseball, but probably did not hit well enough for pro ball. However, he may have continued to play pro ball after Oshkosh, but I'm not sure what teams. He was a bit older than us younger players, who were mostly rookies and in our late teens.

--Submitted by former teammate Bill O'Donnell as a personal remembrance I just remembered something else. We had another nickname for Faust, too, on the Oshkosh team. We called him "Sarge," I guess because of his "take-charge" attitude and demeanor.
