Victor Cates

Bubba Cates is a college coach.

After graduating college, Cates coached for Kirby High School. He was head coach at Jackson State Community College for nine years, going 255-161 and taking his team to the 1996 Junior College World Series. From 1993-1998, he had at least one All-American each year, one of only 3 junior colleges in the USA to do so.

Cates moved to the University of Tennessee at Martin in 1999 and was 137-338-1 in his first nine seasons there. He also taught in the computer science and mathematics departments at the school. He was fired in 2013 after a 11-40 season.
