Biographical Information[edit]

Pitcher Bryse Wilson was selected by the Atlanta Braves in the 4th round of the 2016 amateur draft, out of a high school in North Carolina. He raced through the minors to make his major league debut barely two years later, on August 20, 2018, starting for the Braves against the Pittsburgh Pirates. He was the third 20-year-old starter to make his debut for the Braves that season, following Mike Soroka and Kolby Allard; the Braves were the first team since the 1965 Kansas City Athletics to use three starters younger than 21 in a season. It was a good debut, as he tossed five scoreless innings and received credit for a 1-0 win. He almost had his first major league hit as well, bouncing a drive in front of RF Gregory Polanco, but the outfielder charged the ball and unleashed a bullet to first base to beat out Wilson.
