Biographical Information[edit]

Brian Sabean was General Manager of the San Francisco Giants from September 1996 to April 2015. He also served the Giants as a senior vice-president of player personnel in 1995 and assistant to the GM in scouting/player personnel in 1993-1995. Prior to joining the Giants, he worked in the New York Yankees organization as a scout in 1985-1986, Scouting Director in 1987-1990, and director of player development in 1991-1992.

Sabean was an assistant coach at Saint Leo University in 1979 and the University of Tampa in 1980-1982. He was the head coach at Tampa in 1983-1984.

After overseeing the Giants to 7 postseason appearance, 4 NL titles and 3 World Series titles Sabean was promoted to Executive Vice President of Baseball Operations and gave up the GM position to former assistant Bobby Evans.

He left the Giants following the 2022 season, then returned to the Yankees as an executive senior advisor to GM Brian Cashman in 2023.
