Brian Ruiz did not pitch in the Cuban Serie Nacional in 2007-2008. He was 3-0 with a save and a 3.90 ERA in 2008-2009. In 2009-2010, Ruiz went 3-2 with two saves and a 5.31 ERA for the Industriales, but allowed a .323 average and walked 26 in 42 1/3 IP. In game seven of the finals, he relieved Arleys Sánchez in the 8th inning with a 5-2 lead and two on. He promptly yielded a 3-run homer to Yandy Canto to let the Villa Clara Orangemen tie the contest; the Industriales rallied to win it in the 10th to save Ruiz from being the scapegoat.
