Biographical Information[edit]

Outfielder Brian Martin was drafted by the Tampa Bay Devil Rays in the 9th round of the 1998 amateur draft, in the same round as future star third baseman Mark Teixeira. Martin never reached such levels of stardom -- he played in the Devil Rays system until 2004, showing decent speed with a 19 steal campaign for the Bakersfield Blaze in 2003. He signed a contract with the St. Louis Cardinals for 2005 and remained in their system through 2006. He spent 56 games with the Triple A Memphis Redbirds in 2005, hitting .232/.284/.331.

He resurfaced in 2008, playing 8 games between the St. George Roadrunners of the Golden Baseball League and the San Diego Surf Dogs of the Arizona Winter League. In 34 at-bats, he slashed .481/.588/.667.

He was signed by scout Craig Weissmann.
