Biographical Information[edit]
Brian Betancourth is a coach in the Los Angeles Angels minor league organization. Of Guatemalan background, he was born in Glendale, CA and grew up in Moreno Valley, CA, where he went to high school. He was later at Mount San Jacinto College from 2003 to 2005, where he played both second base and catcher. After graduation, he went into coaching.
In 2010, he obtained his first job in organized baseball as an assistant coach & bullpen catcher with the Modesto Nuts, the Colorado Rockies' affiliate in the California League, staying there for two years. He then joined the Angels organization as a hitting coach for the Orem Owlz in 2012 and in 2014 moved to the AZL Angels. He was scheduled to be hitting coach of the Salt Lake Bees in 2020 before the season was cancelled due to COVID-19. Betancourth returned to Salt Lake in 2021 in the same role.

When Betancourth was a hitting coach for the Salt Lake Bees, his teams were noted for their power. Under Betancourth's guidance the Bees hit a franchise record 222 home runs in 2019, including a Salt Lake single-season record tying 36 from Jared Walsh. In 2021 the Bees finished with 189 home runs, the sixth most in minor league baseball.
