Brett Ward
Brett Ward won the Claxton Shield batting title in 1984 and also took home MVP honors. He set Claxton Shield records for hits (22) and average (.550) in a 10-game series.He played for the Australian national team in the 1985 Intercontinental Cup. He later was the Baltimore Orioles scout for Australia and New Zealand. He signed Jan Novak and Gui Yuan Xu among others. In 2009, Ward was named the Victoria state baseball team All-Star right fielder in the Claxton Shield Diamond Anniversary All-Star team naming. His son Tom Ward has played in the Czech Republic. In 2018, he made the Baseball Australia Hall of Fame.
