Biographical Information[edit]

Brett Holtz has played for the Israeli national team. He is the son of Eric Holtz.

Brett was 0 for 3 with two walks and two HBP as a freshman at Columbia University, then was 1-for-10 with a walk and a HBP as a sophomore and 1-for-9 as a junior. Joining the Arrows Ostrava, he hit .357/.500/.857 with two homers, five runs and six RBI in four games in the 2021 European Champions Cup while handling 27 chances error-free at first. That season, he batted .398/.516/.506 with 38 runs and 36 RBI in 39 games in the Extraliga. He was 6th in RBI (between Martin Mužík and Tyler Smith), 4th in average (between Matěj Menšík and Eugene Helder), 3rd in OBP (after Smith and Michal Ondráček), 9th in OPS (between Matěj Hejma and Petr Čech), 8th in runs and tied Jakub Hajtmar for 7th in walks (26).

Playing for Israel in the 2023 European Championship, he was their main DH. In their opener against Switzerland, he hit cleanup. He doubled off Jonah Schaller his first at-bat to drive in Benjamin Rosengard and Ty Kelly. He finished at .385/.579/.538 with five runs and six walks in six games, handling 7 putouts at 1B.
