Biographical Information[edit]

Brett Harris made his major league debut with the Oakland Athletics on May 3, 2024, starting at third base and going 0 for 3 against the Miami Marlins. The next day, however, he hit his first two major league homers in the same game as part of a 20-4 demolition of those same Marlins. The blast were his first two big league hits, the first being a solo shot in the 4th, followed by a two-run blast in the 6th. He both scored and drove in three runs in the game. The win allowed the A's to reach the .500 mark for only the second time that season (the first was when they had been 1-1 after two games), a remarkable turnaround for a team that had been the worst in the majors the previous year.

Harris was drafted by the A's in the 7th round of the 2021 amateur draft out of Gonzaga University. He hit 22 doubles and 17 homers between Class A and AA in 2022, then followed that in 2023 by posting a slash line of .279/.383/.424 in 105 games between AA and AAA in 2023. He started the 2024 season in AAA with the Las Vegas Aviators of the Pacific Coast League and was hitting .289 with 3 homers and 20 RBIs in 27 games at the time of his call-up.
