Biographical Information

Outfielder Brandon Pico played in the Chicago Cubs system from 1992 to 1996 and briefly in independent ball in 1998. Despite spending six years in pro ball, he never played higher that High A.

In the 1991 World Junior Championship, he hit .417/~.500/.583 with 12 runs and 10 RBI. He led the Bronze Medal-winning USA in runs (one ahead of Aaron Boone and Paul Ottavinia), RBI (tied with A.J. Hinch), hits (15, 2 ahead of Dave Post and Chris Smith), doubles (4, tied with Smith) and triples (1, tied). His five steals were one behind team leader Post and only Hinch had a better average among the regulars.

He was taken by Chicago in the 4th round of the 1992 amateur draft, a few picks ahead of infielder Andy Sheets. Perhaps his best campaigns were 1994 and 1995, when he hit .268/.336/.420 with 10 home runs, 61 RBI and 11 steals in 112 games for the Peoria Chiefs and .294/.356/.407 with 4 home runs, 51 RBI and 8 stolen bases in 112 games between the Rockford Cubbies and Daytona Cubs, respectively.

Overall, he hit .270/.332/.394 with 20 home runs, 180 RBI and 35 stolen bases in 354 games over 6 seasons.
