Biographical Information[edit]

Brandon McArthur has been a minor league player and a scout.

McArthur hit .419 as a high school sophomore, .405 as a junior (4-4, 1.88 as a pitcher) and a .419 as a senior (7-3, 1.34 on the hill). He was All-State as a senior. The Minnesota Twins took him in the fifth round of the 2003 amateur draft but he opted for college. As a college freshman, though, he was punched by a stranger outside a Gainesville nightspot and hit his head on the pavement. He had two brain operations within 24 hours, was a in coma for five days and it was unclear if he would live. He needed another operation in May 2004.

McArthur recovered enough to be playing baseball for Florida by 2005. He hit .268/.319/.329 with 32 runs in 64 games. Florida finished second in the 2005 College World Series. With the Harwich Mariners that summer, he batted .239/.268/.239 in 18 games as a utility man. In 2006, he batted .262/.321/.356 for Florida while battling shin and bone problems. He was 1 for 4 with a homer in the 2007 opener then had elbow surgery to end his year. The next year, he produced at a .337/.392/.478 clip with 44 RBI in 48 contests. His four triples tied for third in the Southeastern Conference. He was the starting third baseman for the 2009 Gators and hit .338/.401/.459 with 41 RBI in 59 games as a sixth-year senior. He signed with the Traverse City Beach Bums and hit .190/.244/.291 with 12 runs and 8 RBI in 26 games as a backup 3B/2B, fielding .986.

In 2010, McArthur became a scout with the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. He signed Mike Morin and Michael Roth.
