Biographical Information[edit]
Brandon Duckworth was the 2001 International League Most Valuable Pitcher after compiling a 13-2 record and 2.63 ERA. He tied Pete Walker for the IL lead in wins and also led in ERA, .33 ahead of runner-up Rigo Beltran. When he was promoted to the majors on August 4th, he had a shot at the pitching Triple Crown but Brandon Knight and Sean Douglass passed him in Ks during the final month.
In his first big league start for the Philadelphia Phillies on August 7, 2001, Duckworth picked up the win and a base hit.
