Biographical Information[edit]

Relief pitcher Brandon Alger began his professional career in 2012 after being taken by the San Diego Padres in the 26th round of the 2012 amateur draft. The scout was Mark Conner.

He began his professional career by going 4-1 with a 2.32 ERA in 15 games (5 starts) for the Eugene Emeralds in 2012 and earned a spot in the Arizona Fall League in 2014 after posting a 2.70 ERA with 15 saves and a 10.4 strikeouts per nine innings ratio for the Lake Elsinore Storm during the regular season. Plagued by poor control over the next two seasons, the Padres released Alger in July 2016.
