Biographical Information[edit]

Branch Rickey III has been a long-time minor league executive. He is the grandson of legendary executive Branch Rickey.

Rickey played baseball, football and wrestling in high school. He became business manager of the Kingsport Pirates after high school. After college, he was a Peace Corps Volunteer in the USA and later was a Peace Corps Recruiter. Returning to baseball, he was a scout for the Pittsburgh Pirates, working his way up to Assistant Director of Player Development. He was Director of Player Development for both the Pirates and the Cincinnati Reds. He was president of the American Association (1991 to 1997. When the AA folded, he became president of the Pacific Coast League in 1998, a role he still held as of 2013, making him the second-longest tenured president in PCL annals after Bill Cutler.
