Team Bio

The second Northwoods League team to make their home in Brainerd, MN, the Brainerd Blue Thunder,played their inaugural seaon in 2005. They filled the gap left by the departure of the Brainerd Mighty Gulls following the 2003 season.

The Blue Thunder were a Summer Collegiate Baseball which is dedicated and designed to provide minor league level competition for NCAA players that wish to continue on into professional baseball. The Brainerd Blue Thunder operated in the model a Minor League team: playing nightly before fans in stadiums which seat thousands, using wood bats and minor league specification equipment, and experiencing road trips between games. In 2009 they were renamed the Brainerd Lakes Area Lunkers.
