Biographical Information[edit]

Bragg Stockton was a longtime college coach as was his son Russell Stockton.

A pitcher, Stockton played briefly in the Houston Astros organization, going 0-5 with a 4.91 ERA in 8 games for their Cocoa Rookie League team in 1965. After time serving as baseball coach at Jesse Jones High School in Houston from 1965 to 1969, he was head coach at San Jacinto Junior College from 1970 to 1980. He then spent three years as an assistant coach at the University of Houston before serving as head coach at Texas Christian University from 1984 to 1986. He then returned to the University of Houston and was their head coach for eight seasons, recording 283 wins during that span.

Stockton received a PhD in education in 1977.
