Biographical Information[edit]

Brad Babcock played shortstop at Lynchburg College from 1960-1963. He coached baseball at James Madison University from 1971-1989, going 558-251-4 and taking the team to the 1983 College World Series, the first College World Series trip for a Virginia-based school. He coached Billy Sample and Dana Allison, the first two major leaguers from JMU. He stayed at James Madison through 2003 as athletic director.

Babcock was previously athletic director at Fountain Valley School in Colorado in the 1960s and assistant coach at Lynchburg College in 1970.

Babcock's son, Whit Babcock, was athletic director at University of Cincinnati (2011-2014) and Virginia Tech (2014- ).
