Biographical Information[edit]
Bobby Schang, like his brother Wally Schang, was a major league catcher. Bobby played three seasons in the majors, getting most of his at-bats with the Pittsburgh Pirates in the later days of Honus Wagner.
He played for St. Joseph for much of 1914. His minor league career ran from 1912 to 1928, with parts of seven seasons at Sacramento. Charlie Pick and Fritz Mollwitz were teammates during most of his time there.
He came back in 1927, many years after his earlier appearances, to have five at-bats with the 1927 St. Louis Cardinals. He and teammate Pete Alexander were both 40 years old.
He is not to be confused with his son Bobby Schang, Wally's nephew, who played in the minors.
