Biographical Information[edit]

Pitcher Bobby Porter played in the Atlanta Braves system in 1997.

He was originally drafted by the Houston Astros in the 30th round of the 1995 amateur draft out of high school, but did not sign. He was then taken by the Astros in the 79th round of the 1996 amateur draft out of Texarkana College, but once again, he did not sign. In 1997, he was taken by the Braves in the 25th round of that year's draft out of Southwest Junior College and did sign. He made seven relief appearances for the GCL Braves that year and went 0-1 with a 9.19 ERA (highest on the team). In 15 2/3 innings, he allowed 23 hits and 15 walks, while striking out 20 batters. That was the extent of his professional career.
