Biographical Information[edit]
Bob Pate's brother, Ed Pate, was a minor league pitcher 1969, 1971-1974. Bob was first called up to the Montreal Expos in Septemebr of 1979, but was not used in a game that year. He came back in June of 1980, subbing for an injured Ellis Valentine, and hit .256 in 23 games. In 1981, he came back to Montreal just before the strike began and as a result missed two months of the season even though he played only 8 games that year. He was sent down to the minors when the conflict was settled, but never played in the big leagues again.
Pate was a coach for the 1987 Burlington Expos and 2001 Rancho Cucamonga Quakes.
