Biographical Information[edit]

Catcher Bob Osgood played in the Chicago Cubs organization in 1946, splitting the year between the Statesville Cubs (7 for 25, 2B) and Elizabethton Betsy Cubs (fewer than 10 G). Just three days after joining the Marion Cubs in 1948, he suffered a heart attack in the dugout and died an hour later. He was 19 years old. He had initially been barred from playing sports in high school due to heart problems and he had left the Fayetteville Cubs due to health issues.

Osgood was the brother of big leaguer Charlie Osgood and the nephew of Clyde Sukeforth.
