Bob Nightengale is the chief baseball writer for USA Today, based out of Phoenix, AZ. He is a member of the BBWAA, and votes annually for the Hall of Fame
While Bob is a well-respected sportswriter, he is imfamous for announcing deals to the wrong team. The most famous incident came on February 5, 2021, when he wrongly announced on Twitter that prized free agent Trevor Bauer had reached an agreement with the New York Mets. He deleted the tweet, and shortly thereafter Trevor himself announced he had signed with the Los Angeles Dodgers, via YouTube.
