Biographical Information[edit]
Bob Jaderlund was a minor league outfielder whose career spanned from 1947 to 1953. He played two seasons in the American Association with the Milwaukee Brewers in 1950 and 1951, but never made the final step to reach the majors.
He was not a home run hitter, with just 18 homers in his 7 seasons, but he still had power, hitting a large number of doubles and triples, with seasons of 30, 25 and 27 two-base hits, and 12, 18 and 12 three-baggers. He hit .325 in his first professional season, with the El Centro Imperials of the Sunset League in 1947, but that was a notoriously hitter-friendly league. His best batting average otherwise was .283 in 1949 for the Denver Bears of the Western League.
On June 29, 1950 while playing for Milwaukee, it was reported that he was camped in right field under a routine fly ball hit by Bama Rowell of the Minneapolis Millers when two nighthawks darted in and pecked at the ball, altering its flight. It fell between between him and CF Bob Addis, resulting in a double. Rowell eventually scored the winning run in a 5-4 win. Other reporters said that Addis had simply lost the ball in the lights - a less entertaining story.
