Biographical Information[edit]
Bob Emmerich is noted for being 5' 3", making him one of the shortest big leaguers. He came to the majors with the Boston Braves in 1923 after he had turned 32 years of age. He had a long minor league career, much of it with the Bridgeport Americans (also known as the Bridgeport Bears). He also managed a couple of years in the minors, one of which was at Bridgeport.
In his season in the majors, he appeared in 13 games. His age was probably not much noticed as the team's average age was 30.
One other major leaguer has the last name Emmerich - Slim Emmerich. Frank Emmer has part of the name.
