Biographical Information[edit]

Before the 1953 season, the St. Louis Cardinals acquired Bob Duliba from the Ozark Eagles of the Alabama-Florida League. The 17-year-old righthander spent his first year with Ozark, going 6-5 with a 3.65 ERA. He then spent the next three seasons (1953-1955) in the Cardinals' minor league system before losing three years (1956-1958) as he served in the in the United States military.

Duliba came back to professional baseball in 1959 and suited up with the Omaha Cardinals, to go 8-5 with a 3.07 ERA. He also played with the parent major league Cardinals, appearing in 11 games, all in relief, going 0-1 but putting up a good 2.78 ERA. Bob spent seven years in the majors, working exclusively in relief in 176 games with St. Louis in 1959, 1960 and 1962, the Los Angeles Angels in 1963 and 1964, the Boston Red Sox in 1965 and the Kansas City Athletics in 1967, finishing with a 17-12 record with 14 saves and a 3.47 ERA.

The righthander spent four more seasons in pro baseball, all in the high minors, finishing out his 17 years of play with the AAA Richmond Braves in 1971. Duliba was 36 when he retired and had built a creditable record during his minor league time on the mound. He appeared in 561 games, winning 93 and losing 73, pitching 1,299 innings, giving up 1,186 base hits and 471 base on balls for a minor league career 3.67 ERA.

Duliba went on to become a high school teacher and coach, and was the head coach at Wilkes University in 1982-1987 and 1992-1995. As of 2009, he resided in West Pittston, PA.
