Biographical Information[edit]
Catcher Bob Barton played a decade in the major leagues. Signed by the San Francisco Giants in 1959, he reached the bigs in September 1965, appearing in 4 games and going 3-for-4 in the season finale against the Cincinnati Reds. He bounced between the majors and minors the next two seasons. After two summers backing up Dick Dietz in San Francisco, he was dealt to the San Diego Padres, along with two others, for Frank Reberger before the 1970 season. He was a regular for San Diego in 1971, hitting .250 with 5 home runs and 35 RBI. The next season, he was traded to the Cincinnati Reds for Pat Corrales. After only 3 games with the Reds, he was back in a Padres uniform for 1974, his last pro season.
