Biographical Information[edit]

He was the same age as veteran hurler Jon Matlack and a year younger than the incomparable Mickey Rivers. Through 2019, he has been the only major leaguer with the last name Babcock.

Babcock had a lengthy minor league career, beginning in 1968. He was primarily a starter through 1973 but thereafter a reliever. He spent parts of six seasons in the International League and five in the Pacific Coast League, finishing in 1984. He entered law enforcement after baseball and lives in West Sunbury, PA.
