Biographical Information

Bob Babb has been a longtime college coach.

Babb finished as one of the leaders in Johns Hopkins history in doubles and steals during his playing career (1974-1977). He got his master's degree from Morgan State in 1980, then became head coach at Johns Hopkins. He would also spend a number of years as an assistant football coach at the school.

Bob led Johns Hopkins to third place at the 1989 Division III College World Series, their best finish ever. His club was 36-4 in 1998 and was ranked as high as #4. Johns Hopkins went 40-4 in 2004 to set a new school record for winning percentage and total victories.

Babb's club improved to 42-8 in 2008 and finished #2 nationally. They appeared in the 2008 Division III College World Series. That year, Babb won his 800th game as head coach. Johns Hopkins was 43-5 and made the 2010 Division III College World Series.

After 45 years, Babb's record is 1,302-478-16. His teams have never finished under .500. Babb announced he would retire after the 2025 season.
