Biographical Information[edit]

Balke Holub was both a designated hitter and a pitcher at St. Edward's University in Austin, TX, hitting over .300 in all four seasons he played there from 2018 to 2021. He also had success as a starting pitcher, and it was as a pitcher that the Detroit Tigers selected him in the 15th round of 2021 amateur draft. He has been exclusively a pitcher since turning pro.

In 2022, in his first pro season, he went 2-1, 6.23 in 32 games between the Low-A Lakeland Flying Tigers and High-A West Michigan Whitecaps. He began 2023 with West Michigan, going 5-1, 1.80 in 18 games, to earn a promotion to the Erie SeaWolves of the Eastern League. He helped Erie to its first-ever title by going 1-3, 3.79 with 7 saves in 30 games there. On November 4th, he was included in the first major league trade of the off-season, going to the Milwaukee Brewers in return for veteran OF Mark Canha.
